澤屋重兵衛

Sawaya is an eighth generation obi weaver founded in 1776. The Jyubei collection began with the focus on Kodai Nishiki obi, the origin of Sawaya, as well as kimono. While focusing on the family business of obi weaving, we also produce our own exhibitions of our work. Sawaya unfolds a creative “Kimono” world, holding many private exhibitions throughout the year all over Japan. We collaborate with artists from different genres, highly acclaimed as an innovative way of integrating traditional and contemporary work. Kodai Nishiki obi is a double-woven obi representative of our work for over 120 years. There are approximately 400 patterns and 1,000 colors, and these obi are admired by kimono lovers who visit the Jyubei collections across the country.
